Nov. 9-11: Zonta Club Of Shreveport presents Holiday Traditions Antiques Show & Sale. The 60th annual Zonta Club Antiques Show and Sale will feature forty dealers with quality antiques. Nov. 16-Jan. 6, 2008-Ice: A Red River Revel Holiday Event. Ice skating in 70 degree weather may sound impossible but for Shreveport, soon it will become a reality. Festival Plaza will be converted into a winter wonderland for Ice: A Red River Revel Holiday Event. It will open to the public seven days a week for 50 days. There will be 50 vendors on hand for a Holiday Market to be held four consecutive weekends starting the day after Thanksgiving. Nov. 19: Moscow Ballet’s “Great Russian Nutcracker”. This Broadway level spectacle features dazzling costumes, 50 all-star Russian cast, hand-painted sets, larger than life puppets, and breathtaking scenic design by Valentin Fedorov. Nov 19:  Bossier City Civic Center Lighting Display.  This is an elaborate lighting display and home to many holiday performances.  Bossier Civic Center.  318-741-8900. Free.

Nov. 19: December on the Red Opening Ceremonies. A 35-foot holiday tree lighting ceremony will usher in Christmas. Santa Claus will also arrive and be available for visits and photos. Louisiana Boardwalk. 318-752-1455.

Nov. 23-25, Dec. 15-16: Shop ‘Til You Drop Arts Crafts & Gifts Christmas Show. Our show features an array of home furnishings, seasonal decor, personalized items, bath and body, tasty treats, women’s and children accessories, handmade and fashion jewelry, and so much more. Nov. 30 – Dec 26:  Christmas in Roseland.  A fantasy wonderland of lights, holiday scenes and nightly entertainment.  The American Rose Center is transformed each Christmas to a winter wonderland.  5-10 pm (gates close a 9:30 pm) American Rose Center 318-938-5402. $.

Nov. 24: Town of Plain Dealing Christmas Open House.  Stores will be open and serving free refreshments.  A large Christmas tree will be set up, local churches will provide music, and Santa will make a special appearance.  Located off Highway 3.  318-326-4234.

Nov. 24: Rockets Over the Red. Incredible fireworks show kicks off the holiday season with food, music, games and Santa’s train. RiverView Park. Shreveport. 318-222-7403. 4-9 p.m.

Nov. 30-Dec. 30: The Greening of the Louisiana State Exhibit Museum. The annual Greening of the Louisiana State Exhibit Museum will display specially decorated trees. 25 classes of third grade art students from Caddo Parish schools will compete in decorating a holiday tree with ornaments made in their art class. They also enjoy a performance by the Shreveport Opera Express, a hands-on project, lunch and prizes. Shreveport. 318-632-2020.

Dec. 1-31: Holiday entertainment at the Louisiana Boardwalk. The Boardwalk, a retail/entertainment/shopping complex, will feature live holiday entertainment every night including school bands, dance groups, carolers, clowns, etc. 318-752-1455.

Dec 1:  Christmas in the Hills. Businesses throughout Southern Hills will be dressed in holiday style beginning with the official lighting and continuing with the 5 p.m. Old-Fashioned Christmas Parade, Saturday, December 1, in the area of Jewella Avenue and Mackey Lane. More than 200 outdoor lighted and decorated Community Christmas Trees will welcome visitors to the area, along with 125 holiday boulevard banners. Dec 9:  Holiday Hop with Coasters, Platters & Drifters.  Celebrate the holidays with Rock’n Roll.  The Strand Theatre presents Holiday Pop featuring Coasters, Drifters & The Platters.  All the great standards, plus all your favorite rock ’n roll tunes with a few surprises as well. 7:30 pm $30-$69.50.

Dec. 8-9: Shreveport Metropolitan Ballet presents “The Nutcracker”. The Shreveport Metropolitan Ballet will perform “The Nutcracker.” Guest artists will be Luz San Miguel and Cristian Laverde Koing of the Milwaukee Ballet. Civic Theater, Shreveport. 318-459-1457. 3 p.m.

Dec. 8: Bossier Chamber Christmas Parade. Sleigh bells ring in the 30th annual Bossier Chamber Christmas parade. The Family Fun Area  will include free arts and crafts activities for kids, pictures with Santa Claus, concessions and much more.  318-746-0252.

Dec. 15: Shreveport Symphony Orchestra presents Holiday Pops Concert. Join the Shreveport Symphony as it performs seasonal favorites. Special guests include Seva May, alto, Shreveport Metropolitan Baller, Escaped Images Dance Troupe, Red River Children’s Choir and a Holiday Pops Festival Choir.
