Kilgore, Texas Group Itineraries
First stop is the East Texas Oil Museum. Watch a movie about the discovery of the Richest Oil Field in the World. Tour the museum that looks like Kilgore in the 1940s during the height of the oil boom.
Then head over for a short jaunt to the Rangerette Showcase Museum. The Rangerette’s have entertained US presidents with their distinctive dance/cheer/acrobatic style. What started out as entertainment to keep Kilgore College football fans in their seats during halftime, turned into a legacy that continues to this day.
Next tour the Shakespeare Garden, a themed garden that cultivates plants mentioned in the works of William Shakespeare.
Head to lunch at B-Ts. The plate lunches are incredible. The ample portion of country fried steak smothered in white gravy with mashed potatoes, a vegetable of choice, bread and dessert is sure to leave you satisfied.
From there head over to Kilgore’s signature World’s Richest Acre. This parcel of land once held more than 1,000 wooden oil derricks. Today during Christmas, stars top the 60 replica derricks, helping the city maintain its title as the state’s official “City of Stars”.
End the tour at the 205 Shop. Here you’ll find upscale antiques, clothing, perfume, lotions, one-of-a-kind purses and more. This downtown treasure is filled with just the right gifts for family and friends.
