“The 25th annual Christmas Candlelight Tour of Homes”
November 29-30, December 1 & 6-8, 2007
The angels of Christmas past visit the historic town of Jefferson, once known as the Riverport to the Southwest.
Christmas in Jefferson is reminiscent of a tinted Victorian photo where celebrations and scenery takes one back to the 19th century. Docents bedecked in period attire will guide you as you tour four of Jefferson’s most beautiful homes richly adorned in cedar, pine and fir. The grand interiors glow from the soft radiance of Christmas lights and candles. The scent of cinnamon, apples, and fresh-baked pastries perfume the air.
Sounds of the season resonate through Jefferson as inspiring Christmas melodies are sung by choirs and old fashioned hand-bells ring to delight those of all ages.
The tours will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursdays, November 29 and December 6. On Fridays and Saturdays, November 30 and December 1, 7 and 8 tours will last from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
In Jefferson you can experience all of the following: Horse-drawn Carriage Rides, a Christmas Parade, the Big Cypress Bayou Tours, The Enchanted Forest, Gone with the Wind Museum, Jefferson Historical Museum, Historical Jefferson Railway’s Christmas “Rail of Lights”, antiques, gifts, art galleries, and carriage tours.
