NATCHITOCHES, LOUISIANA ... Celebrate the joy of the Christmas season with a visit to historic Natchitoches and view the wonderful display during the Festival of Lights.
The 81st Annual Christmas Festival will take place Saturday, December 1, 2007, on the downtown riverbank in Natchitoches. Food and craft vendors will be in place, and the shops will stay open late. A junior parade will stroll through the area at 10 a.m. and the 2-mile main parade will begin at 1 p.m. festival day. Entertainment will be available throughout the day, and fireworks will begin at 6:00 p.m. including a light show coordinated to high-energy Christmas music.
Carriage tours will be available for evening rides through Natchitoches’ National Landmark Historic District. There will also be boat rides available on Cane River Lake. The shops in the Historic District will be open and selling their festive decorations, unique gifts, and clothing, including Christmas Festival T-Shirts.
The place to be on December 1 and every Saturday in December is Natchitoches. We humbly invite you to be with us this year as we celebrate the 81st year of the Christmas Festival. It is going to be the greatest family festival ever and the most exciting fireworks show in the entire state of Louisiana during the month of December.
The lights will remain on throughout the month of December, and every Saturday night the skies will be lit with a grand fireworks show.
The Christmas by Candlelight Holiday Tour of Homes will take place during the 2nd and 3rd weeks in December. The Tour will feature several historic homes in Natchitoches, annually presented by the Natchitoches Historic Foundation. Visit www.natchitocheshistoricfoundation.org for more details.
