Historic Bossier City’s 2ND Annual
Victorian Holiday Festival
A 2007 Keep Bossier Beautiful Event
Shreveport-Bossier City, LA -- You’re invited to attend the 2nd annual Victorian Holiday Festival in historic downtown Bossier City, Louisiana on November 17. The event takes place from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. along Barksdale Boulevard between Arcadia and McCormick Streets.
This special family event produced by Keep Bossier Beautiful, an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful, promises to delight the local community and Ark-La-Tex tourists with its version of a turn-of-the-century Victorian era Christmas celebration.
Music of the season, Victorian-costumed strolling carolers, Dickens troupes, and live performances on stage will keep guests of all ages entertained. Arts and craft vendors will offer unique holiday wares for the hard-to-buy-for people on your list. Food vendors will sell everything from hot cider, gingerbread and popcorn to caramel apples, roasted peanuts, and meat pies. A vintage trolley will take guests on a tour of the exterior murals by local artist Buddy West. A festive parade will entertain and delight children and adults alike.
A $100 gift certificate will be awarded to the participant in the best Victorian costume of the evening. To participate, you must drop off a donation at a local Toys for Tots drop off station. There will also be a prize for the building with the best decoration, as well as door prizes. Fourteen Christmas trees decorated by local schools will be auctioned off.
The parade will feature Bossier City Mayor Lorenz Walker and his wife Adele riding in a horse-drawn carriage, followed by event sponsors in antique automobiles. The parade will also showcase Vernon Love and his bagpipes, the Bossier High School marching band, several musical groups and Mayor Walker’s formal reading of the city proclamation. Santa Clause and his elves will arrive on Bossier City’s oldest fire engine.
To find the festival, take I-20. Exit at Traffic Street or Benton Road.
